Fashion Week Begins: Vogue Fashion Night Out

Milan Fashion Week is back in black…and in many other colors! The city launched its traditional autumnwear celebration with the tenth annual Vogue Fashion Night Out: three nights filled with shopping, style, and chic couture.

From September 13th to 15th, fashion lovers traveled from far and wide to downtown Milan to have the first taste of the city’s fresh autumn fashion. During their nights out in the city, women sported classic black outfits, and many of them played with stripes and classic designs that embody the epitome of classy urban European style. Black knee-high boots, ankle boots, and platform sandals remain all-time favorites, and black striped jumpsuits and palazzo pants appeared to be a common trend. Men wore dark and neutral business-styled suits and dress shoes.

Shops remained open throughout the evening, so guests could procure their personal favorites to prepare for the official fashion week soon to come. Shops throughout the city center – Via Torino, Via Montenapoleone, and beyond – displayed their finest arrangements of merchandising to please everyone, customers and window-shoppers alike.

Novel monumental additions to the City Center lured in curious photographers, visitors, and locals. American chain Five Guys Burgers and Fries brought the fast foodies, the majestic Apple Store brought the bloggers, and, despite the common misconception that Italians would try to cast it away forever, Starbucks’ infamous roastery brought in anyone looking to spice up the fall season…even Italians.

The overcast skies on Thursday evening had no luck with stopping guests from enjoying themselves. In fact, there were crowds of excited people under the rain in the Piazza del Duomo, the square surrounding the beautiful cathedral, to hear the concert performed from a nearby balcony. The visitors heard performances by Italian Annalisa, from Savona, and British Jess Glynne, who is most known for her recent hit, “Hold My Hand.”

A special thanks to Vogue Italia for preparing the event, and thank you to the city of Milan for letting Milan Fashion Week commence with such an unforgettable series of evenings.
